APCD as a member of ESCAP established Working Group, APCD Representative attended the Second Session of the Working Group on the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2023–2032.
The Working Group was established pursuant to ESCAP Resolution 79/5 of May 2023, entitled “Implementation of the Jakarta Declaration on the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2023–2032”.
APCD provided inputs on Collaboration with the UNESCAP, DEP, TICA and JICA to promote Disability Inclusive Employment and Business (DIEB) at the national and regional level.
To promote Jakarta Declaration, APCD Representative also highlighted the important of empowerment of self-help group of persons with disabilities at the community level.

APCD as a member of ESCAP established Working Group, attended the Second Session of the Working Group on the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2023 – 2032 on 26 – 27 August 2026, organized by UNESCAP at United Nation Conference Center, Bangkok.
The Working Group on the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2023–2032 was established pursuant to ESCAP Resolution 79/5 of May 2023, entitled “Implementation of the Jakarta Declaration on the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2023–2032”. The current Working Group maintains its essential role and is expanding its scope to address emerging regional challenges, as outlined in the Jakarta Declaration on the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2023–2032.
To ensure comprehensive representation and expertise in the Asian and Pacific region, the Working Group comprises 20 members from Governments and 20 members from civil society organizations. This balanced membership fosters a multi-stakeholder approach to guiding the implementation of the 2023–2032 Decade.
The Working Group’s mandate encompassed multiple key functions: promoting the Decade at regional, subregional, and national levels; providing technical advice on the Declaration’s six priority areas; facilitating regional and subregional cooperation; fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration and reviewing implementation progress.
At the meeting, APCD provided 3 main inputs as follows; (1) Collaboration with the UNESCAP and Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEP) to promote Disability Inclusive Employment and Business (DIEB) at the national level; (2) Collaboration with the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to promote Disability Inclusive Employment and Business (DIEB) at the regional level; and (3) Highlighted the important of empowerment of self-help group of persons with disabilities at the community level.
