APCD Visited Centara Life Cha-Am Beach Resort Hua Hin to Strengthen Partnership for Disability Inclusion

On 16 July 2026, the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD) visited Centara Life Cha-Am Beach Resort Hua Hin to strengthen the long-standing partnership between the two organizations and discuss future collaboration in promoting disability-inclusive development and employment.

The APCD delegation was led by Mr. Piroon Laismit, Executive Director of APCD, and was welcomed by Mr. Asdang Sukwises, General Manager of Centara Life Cha-Am Beach Resort Hua Hin.

During the meeting, both organizations exchanged views on their ongoing collaboration and discussed opportunities to further promote vocational skills development, disability-inclusive employment, and sustainable career pathways for persons with disabilities. The discussion also highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between the private sector and APCD in advancing disability-inclusive business practices and creating more accessible and inclusive workplaces.

APCD expressed its appreciation to Centara Life Cha-Am Beach Resort Hua Hin for its continued support and collaboration and looked forward to further strengthening the partnership in promoting equal opportunities and disability-inclusive development.

APCD Visited Foundation for Slum Child Care to Donate Bread through the “PunPangPunBoon” Project

On 14 July 2026, Mr. Piroon Laismit, Executive Director of the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD), together with Ms. Wilailekha Somprach, Manager of APCD 60+ Plus Projects, visited the Foundation for Slum Child Care under the Royal Patronage of H.R.H. Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajnagarindra to donate freshly baked bread through the “PunPangPunBoon” initiative under the APCD 60+ Plus Project.

The bread donation was made possible through the generous support of donors from Hong Kong, whose contributions supported APCD’s efforts to provide assistance to communities in need.

During the visit, the APCD delegation met with representatives of the Foundation and delivered the bread as part of the initiative. The activity supported the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to improve the well-being of children and families while promoting the values of sharing, compassion, and social inclusion.

APCD expressed its sincere appreciation to its donors for their continued support and valued the opportunity to collaborate with community organizations in advancing disability-inclusive development and strengthening community partnerships.

Mr. Somchai Rungsilp, delivered the welcome remarks and highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in promoting disability-inclusive employment in Thailand.

Ms. Ting Ting Chen from ESCAP actively supported the discussion during the meeting of the development of Thailand's Job Coach system and advance disability-inclusive employment.

The participants from the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour, actively exchanged ideas and shared recommendations from the Ministry's perspective during the meeting.

Representative from the private business sector, Central Restaurant, actively exchanged ideas and shared recommendations from the company's perspective, drawing on its experience in employing persons with disabilities (PWDs). 

Ms. Prim Kaewpradub, International Relations Officer at the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEP) and a member of the DIEB Project team, facilitated the meeting and encouraged active participation through discussion and knowledge sharing.
 

APCD and DEP Co-organized the First Coordinating Platform Members Meeting to Advance Thailand's Job Coach System.

On 14 July 2026, APCD and DEP co-organized the Coordinating Platform Members 1st meeting under the disability inclusive employment and business project. The Project is supported by 
ESCAP. The meeting marked the official launch of cross-sector collaboration among government agencies, private sector representatives, organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), and academia, to strengthen disability-inclusive employment in Thailand through the development of the Job Coach system.

The meeting provided an overview of the project's progress, including the completion of the policy paper, practical guide, and Job Coach training. Members were introduced to the objectives, roles, and responsibilities of the Coordinating Platform and discussed how the Platform can support the development and long-term sustainability of the Job Coach system in Thailand. Participants also exchanged recommendations on strengthening collaboration, improving information sharing, and identifying practical mechanisms to support Job Coaches and employers.

In addition, the meeting established the schedule for monthly Coordinating Platform meetings, which will serve as a monitoring and knowledge-sharing mechanism to support trained Job Coaches throughout the implementation period. Members also provided recommendations to further refine the Platform's terms of reference, ensuring clear objectives, defined roles, and practical actions for future collaboration.

On 13 July 2026, the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD) welcomed representatives from Centara Life Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre Chaeng Watthana for a courtesy visit to reaffirm the longstanding partnership between the two organizations and discuss opportunities for future collaboration in promoting disability-inclusive development.

The delegation was led by Ms. Kanchana Ruangsiriwichayakul, General Manager of Centara Life Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre Chaeng Watthana, and was welcomed by Mr. Piroon Laismit, Executive Director of APCD.

During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on future cooperation and reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing disability inclusion, promoting inclusive employment, and strengthening collaboration between APCD and the private sector to expand opportunities for persons with disabilities.

On 19 June 2026, Mr. Somchai Rungsilp, Manager, Community Development Department of APCD, was invited to be a speaker to share his inputs for developing curriculum of the Master of Management in Sustainability Management. Group of 10 participants attended this forum along with the lecturer team of Srinakharinwirot University (SWU). Most of the panelists work in the private sector.  Mr. Somchai highlighted the Importance of empowering and including vulnerable people to ensure no one is left behind in our society. His comments also emphasized that the curriculum should encourage the students to be active citizens. Students should be prepared to learn, apply their knowledge and skills, and connect their learning across the international, national, and community levels.

APCD Holds Closing Ceremony for the 2026 Vocational Training Program for Persons with Disabilities in the Food and Hospitality Business

On 10 July 2026, the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD) held the Closing Ceremony and Certificate Presentation for the 2026 Vocational Training Program for Persons with Disabilities in the Food and Hospitality Business, marking the successful completion of the program and recognizing the achievements of the participants.

Mr. Piroon Laismit, Executive Director of APCD, delivered the welcome and appreciation remarks. The ceremony was presided over by Ms. Pinya Chamroonsat, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEP), Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, who delivered the closing remarks. Both congratulated the participants on their accomplishments and reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting disability-inclusive employment and expanding employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from partner organizations, including Ms. Thanyalak Ponacha, Training Department Manager, Thai Yamazaki Co., Ltd.; Mr. Chanwit Pengcharoen, Black Canyon (Thailand); Ms. Kasemsri Buathong, Millennium Hilton Bangkok; and Ms. Kingkarn Siriwat, Anantara Bangkok. Their continued collaboration has played an important role in supporting vocational skills development and creating employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Throughout the program, participants enhanced both their vocational knowledge and practical skills in the food and hospitality sector through classroom learning and hands-on workplace experience. The training strengthened their confidence, improved their work readiness, and prepared them for sustainable employment.

The certificate presentation marked an important milestone in the participants’ learning journey and reflected the strong partnership among APCD, DEP, and private sector organizations in advancing disability-inclusive employment through skills development and sustainable career pathways.

APCD sincerely appreciates the valuable support and continued collaboration of all partner organizations in promoting disability-inclusive development and creating greater employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.

JICA Thailand Visits Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit to Follow Up on APCD’s Disability Internship Program

On 9 July 2026, representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency Thailand Office (JICA Thailand) visited Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit to follow up on the progress of trainees participating in the 6th Vocational Training Program for Persons with Disabilities in Food & Hospitality and to exchange views on promoting disability-inclusive employment.

The JICA Thailand delegation comprised Ms. Komahashi Rie, Senior Representative; Ms. Ichigi Akari, Representative; Ms. Nuntaporn Sittidetboripat, Project Officer; Ms. Fujihara Aika, Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer (JOCV); and Ms. Yamamoto Saeko, Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer (JOCV).

The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Sammy Carolus, General Manager; Mr. Narinthon Jaiyen, Director of Human Resources; and Mr. Pongsawat Wongsakthaworn, Learning Manager, of Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit. Representatives from the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD) included Ms. Nongnuch Maytarjittipun, Manager of the Information & Knowledge Management Department; Ms. Wilailekha Somprach, Manager of APCD 60+ Plus Projects; Mr. Krittapol Chamrasromran, Communications and Administrative Support Officer of the Information & Knowledge Management Department; and Ms. Isabella Gacono, APCD Intern.

During the visit, the participants observed the workplace performance and learning progress of persons with disabilities undertaking internships at the hotel. The visit highlighted the importance of practical workplace experience in strengthening vocational skills, building confidence, and enhancing readiness for meaningful employment in the hospitality industry.

The visit also provided a valuable opportunity for JICA Thailand, Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit, and APCD to exchange knowledge and experiences while further strengthening collaboration in promoting Disability-Inclusive Business (DIB) and expanding inclusive employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.

On 8 July 2026, the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD), in collaboration with Centara Life Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre Chaeng Watthana, held a Certificate Presentation Ceremony for participants who successfully completed the internship phase of the 6th Vocational Training Program for Persons with Disabilities in Food & Hospitality.

The ceremony was officially opened by Mr. Piroon Laismit, Executive Director of APCD, and Ms. Kanchana Ruangsiriwichayakul, General Manager of Centara Life Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre Chaeng Watthana, who congratulated the participants on their successful completion of the program and emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting inclusive employment and expanding opportunities for persons with disabilities.

The internship program, which commenced in May 2026, provided participants with practical workplace experience in the hospitality industry. Through on-the-job training, participants enhanced their vocational competencies, gained valuable professional experience, and strengthened their readiness for future employment.

The certificate presentation ceremony marked the successful completion of the internship phase and reflected the continued collaboration between APCD and Centara Hotels & Resorts in supporting vocational skills development and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities. APCD Team Visits Autistic Thai Foundation to Learn About Capacity-Building Programs for Persons with Autism

Bangkok, 8 July 2026 — A team from the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD) paid a visit to the Autistic Thai Foundation to observe and learn about the Foundation's initiatives in promoting capacity building for persons with autism.

The APCD delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Chusak Chantayanon, President of the Autistic Thai Foundation, together with Mr. Pramote Thammasaroch, who accompanied the team throughout the visit and provided an overview of the Foundation's ongoing work.

During the visit, the APCD team had the opportunity to observe the Foundation's art program, an initiative that encourages and supports persons with autism in creating their own original artworks. The program aims to foster self-expression, build confidence, and develop practical skills, while also providing a platform through which the artistic talents of persons with autism can be recognized and celebrated.

The visit further highlighted the diverse potential of persons with autism, who demonstrated their abilities across several areas, including the use of art and design supported by AI systems, as well as computer-based learning and teaching tools. These technologies are helping to open new avenues for creative expression and skills development among persons with autism.

The visit reflects APCD's continued commitment to strengthening collaboration with local organizations working to advance the rights, skills, and opportunities of persons with disabilities, including persons with autism, across the Asia-Pacific region.

Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel Visits APCD to Explore Future Collaboration on Disability Inclusion

On 6 July 2026, the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD) welcomed representatives from Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel for a courtesy visit to discuss potential areas of collaboration and strengthen partnership in advancing disability-inclusive development.

The delegation was led by Ms. Kingkarn Siriwat, Learning Manager, and Ms. Nitwari Sikon, Learning Officer, of Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel. The representatives were warmly welcomed by Mr. Piroon Laismit, Executive Director of APCD, who introduced APCD’s mission and ongoing initiatives while leading discussions on opportunities for future collaboration.

During the visit, the representatives toured APCD’s Accessible Building / Universal Design, which provides accessible accommodation for participants attending APCD training programs. They also visited the APCD 60+ Plus Bakery and Chocolate Café and the APCD 60+ Plus Kitchen to learn about APCD’s initiatives in vocational skills development, inclusive employment, and sustainable livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities.
