Mr. Watcharapol Chuengcharoen presented about the internation framework in disaster risk reduction, including Sendai Framework, CRPD, and SDGs.
Mr. Somchai Rungsilp and Ms. Thorfan Dechachainimit introduced disability inclusive disaster management tools that can be used to support safe evacuation at community level.
Participants explored and tested the disability inclusive disaster management tools showcased during the break.

ACPD team, along with volunteers, conducted a fire drill exercise to allow participants to learn and practice a safe evacuation in time of emergency.

From 28 – 30 April 2026, resource persons from APCD, led by Mr. Somchai Rungsilp (Community Development Manager), Mr. Watcharapol Chuengcharoen (Chief of Networking & Collaboration), and Ms. Thorfan Dechachainimit, the Project Coordinator for Disability Inclusive Employment & Business (DIEB), participated in a disaster preparedness project held in Northern Thailand. The event took place in Chiang Mai Province and was organized by the Association for Mentally Illness of Thailand (AMITH). The event was supported by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEP) under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security. The project aimed to strengthen the capacity of people with psychosocial disabilities, their family members, caregivers, network leaders, and volunteers across 17 provinces in Northern Thailand. The initiative also aimed to enhance knowledge and understanding of disaster risks, causes, prevention, and adaptation, while promoting mental well-being during emergencies. Participants engaged in practical training to build skills in self-reliance and safe response during crisis.
Over 370 participants attended, including network representatives, volunteers, and caregivers. APCD resource persons conducted lively sessions on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and international frameworks such as the Sendai Framework and UNDRR mechanisms. They also introduced inclusive disaster management tools, including innovative devices like walking sticks equipped with lights to support safe evacuation. In addition, a fire drill exercise was conducted, allowing participants to practice evacuation procedures and improve their readiness to respond effectively in emergency situations.
