To reduce the risk of loss, death and injury of persons with disabilities during the disaster. 2. Inclusive disability disaster risk in Laos particularly in the community and in rural area where have flood and landslide occurred. 3. To develop quality living of person with disability to survive from disaster. #Page 5 Outlines 1.) Introduction (Key concept and objectives, challenges & opportunities of PWDs) -In any disaster, persons with disabilities are often most significantly affected. in addition, in Laos there are a lot of flood and landslide. For example, the storms and flood evet occurred during October-November 2020 affected 69,764, 9,200 people displaced, 11,000 hectares of land destroyed. October 2019; flash floods led to casualties and damage. During the early stages, some 500 people were affected in three villages in Baeng District, Oudomxai Province. July 2018 - Floods Tropical Storm Son-Tinh caused heavy rains in 13 provinces and flash floods in Sanamxay District in Attapeu Province. However, there is no disaggregated data on PwD collected in Lao PDR. -To reduce the risk of loss, death and injury of persons with disabilities during the disaster, there are many challenging to implementing such as: understanding of disaster risk, Equal rights of PWDs, Discrimination and Stigma: Society attitudes and discrimination can prevent people with disabilities from accessing services or participating in Disaster Risk Reduction activities. #Page 6 Opportunity of PWDs to take this training in order to reduce the risk of loss, death and injury of persons with disabilities during the disaster in DiDRR. The national strategy on Disaster Risk Reduction 2021-2030 has explicitly mentioned about need for disaggregated data collection and Convene a National Taskforce on Disability and Disasters and include targets to undertake research, increase awareness and support resilience of people living with disabilities and their families. #Page 7 2.) It promotes awareness of Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DiDRR) and urges the involvement of the whole society for the benefit of all. Over the 7 modules, the course offers fresh insights on disability and provides actionable recommendations for inclusive DRR practices. The tool targets DRR policy makers and professionals at all levels to develop and implement disability-inclusive policies with the meaningful participation of organizations of persons with disabilities.
